THE MYSTERY OF THE VIRGIN MARY OF ATALAYA WEEPING BLOOD

09-01-15-madonnina

Newspaper Los Andes ? 12th January 2009
The Madonna of Atalaya: a mystery that brings faithful together every day and night for prayer.
The local newspaper reported that the faithful of Atalaya, in the region of Veraguas, about 300 km southwest of the Capital, are astounded by the supposed blood tears that pour out of the eyes of the statue of the Madonna placed in the basilica of the small Panamanian town. In the whole region though, besides those who believe to the miracle, there are those who believe that it could be due to varnish drops fallen during the recent Church restoration.

LA PAZ: STATUE OF CHRIST POURS BLOOD

09-01-15-gesu

Online Edition La Raz?n, 8th January 2009

According to the Parish Church of Merced in the city of La Paz, this is the third time that the statue of Jesus starts weeping. For the faithful this is a miracle that invites believers to redemption. The Church though suggests to be cautious.
It was about 21:30 on Tuesday and the last Mass of ?Dia de Reyes? (day of the Magi) was about to end in the church of the Merced, when an unsettled lady approached Sister Ema Antezana Galarza to inform her that the image of Christ the Nazarene was weeping.
?I got close to the image and realised it was weeping, so I called other people to check whether they saw the same thing and they confirmed it?, said the religious of the order of the Missionary of the Holy Trinity.
During the whole morning hundreds of catholic believers occurred to pray and light up candles to the Nazarene.
?It is a plea for our conscience. The tears of the Lord invite us to reconsider our actions?, commented sister Ema.
Juan Escalier, president of the brotherhood of ?Se?or de las Ca?das?, has ensured that the occurrence is miraculous and has explained that ?the Lord represents the whole humanity?.
According to the Parish of Merced, the first time this event occurred was in 2007, then again in 2008 during the Holy week, and just now it is the third time.
According to Jes?s Ju?rez, general secretary of the Bolivian Episcopal Conference, the Church shall proceed with ?caution? before declaring it a miracle.
?Jesus the Nazarene de las Ca?das? represents the falls that Jesus suffered during the Calvary, while carrying the Cross and is used during Good Friday?s processions.
